Carterville Lions Look Good in Scrimmage Win over the Marion Wildcats

The Carterville Lions went to Marion High School to scrimmage the Wildcats tonight, exactly one week before they open the regular season at home against the Benton Rangers.

Each team was given twenty four offensive plays and the Lions come away with a 12-6 win.

Lions looked good on both sides of the ball. The Lions scored first on a touch-down pass from QB Nick Bishing to Mason Watts.

Marion scored their lone touchdown on a tipped pass that wound up going for a touchdown.

Carterville Chance Myers, wrapped up the game with a short touchdown run.

Coach Brett Diel was very happy with the Lions performance on the night. I believe he may have been more happy being able to scrimmage another team before their week one game versus Benton.

Lions Quarterback, Nick Bishing was able to gain valuable experience going into the season opener as well.

Lions featured running back, Chance Myers, who really didn't play last season until week five, was outstanding, scoring from about six yard out.

The Lions will be at home to open the season next Friday night when they host the Benton Rangers.

Keenan Clark and I will have the call on NewsRadio WJPF starting at 6:45 PM.

I can't wait to get the season started.

Roar Lions Roar!
