Colt League World Series Starts On Friday In Marion


For the sixth year in a row, the Pony League International Colt World Series returns to Mountain Dew Park in Marion at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.


Over the course of the next five days, ten teams will play in a double elimination tournement before the champion is crowned on Tuesday night.


As the host city, Marion has two teams that play in the tourney, Team Marion and Team Southern Illinois.


Then there are the four United States Zones with one team from each zone. The East Zone team is from Youngstown, Ohio. The South Zone team is from Palmview, Texas. The North Zone is represented by Bay County, Michigan and the West Zone is from Covina, California.


Then there are four international teams that travel to Marion to complete.


The Asia-Pacific Zone representative is coming from Tokyo, Japan. The European Zone is from Prague, Czech Republic.


The Carribbean Zone team travels from Masaya, Nicaragua while the Mexico Zone team is from Monterrey, Mexico.


I stopped by Mountain Dew Park tonight to talk with Steve Miller, the Tournement Director about this weekends games.




I also spoke with Tournament Chair Rachel Stroud and we talked more of the behind the scenes that takes place during the five day tournament.
