Writer: Dave McKenzieDave McKenzie

The Carterville Lions may be one of the hotest teams in the area as they in the IHSA Class 2A Regional Seemi-final tonight.

The Lions wrapped up the regular season last Friday night on the road at Murphysboro. The Red Devils were celebrating their Senior night and with a win, had an opportunity to earn a share of the SIRR Conference - Ohio Division title with the Herrin Tigers.

The Lions would not let the Red Devils get going, as they jumped on them early and pick up an impressive 52-33 win.

Coach Shane Hawkins and the Lions are playing their best basketball of the year at the right time as they closed out the regular season on a seven game winning streak.

Carterville (17-12) enters post season play as the #4 seed in the Hamilton County regional and will face the host team. The Foxes (21-9) beat Eldorado in the quarter-final round on Monday night 62-37 to advance to the semi's.

These two teams have met once this season. That was in the Benton Invitatational Tourney back on January 20th. The Lions picked up the win 58-25.

Jjoin me and John Homan for all the action starting at 7:15 PM on NewsRadio WJPF (AM1340/FM99.5) and on our YouTube livestream.
